Très bon spot, les voitures peuvent très bien s'arrêter
Un pu d'attente tout de même et beaucoup de chance car des locaux allant à Bonneville nous ont amené jusqu'à Samoëns

40 minutes of walking on the road, quite dangerous, good amount of cars but noone stopping even if there's only one way
But the guy that took us was really kind

I just landed in Geneva Airport and tried to get BlaBlaBus to Grenoble, but it got canceled :/

So I just found this spot on Google maps and decided to give it a try. There's enough space for cars to pull over, but not for trucks. And the road turns directly to the highway.

A lot of French drivers, who work in Geneva and live in France go this way. Took some time but got a great company on the way and it was easier once in France.

Very good spot to go direction Annecy, Lyon. There is a plenty of spot for the car to stop, cars go slow, petrol station is nearby ( you can try to ask people there). Took me less than 30 min to get a ride to Annecy on Sunday morning

Got a ride by French-Moldavian couple very fast. First to Chamonix, but then they invited me to stay for a night at their place in Annemasse as it was already dark and my destination was Marseille. It was perfectly on my way and I couldn't resist the offer. What a hospitality!

Very good spot. Cara go quite slow. With a paper with the place you go quite easy. I took a ride to Lyon.

To Lyon, Not the best spot of the area for sure, but I stood on top of the little hill with a sign and pointed out that there is place (which the driver can't see beforehand) for a car to pull over to pick you up, at the entrance of the highway by the roundabout and got a ride direct

Not too much space, but just after customs, so speed is very low. Easy to at least get to the Mt. Blanc tunnel - Walterheck

Need a sign to go to Lyon, cause most of the people are heading to Geneva.

A lot are just going to Saint Julien. Go with them and stop at the "rond point" at the exit of the highway, then go to the entrance. All the people at this point might go quite far ;)

I preferred to wait just before the border, by the speed bump, as cars are forced to REALLY slow down there, an dthere is room for them to stop.

I was going from Marseille to Geneva. I was dropped further on the D2 (to Chamonix), 5-10min after this toll, so impossible to get a ride to Geneva after that. Make sure to tell your driver to drop you at this toll if he/she is going on the D2, otherwise stay in the car if going on the A41. A LOT of cars. Havent tried myself but that is the spot I should have been..

LOTS of traffic, so we tried with a sign to Nimes directly. That was a bit over the top, but we got picked up to Chambéry after changing the sign. Total waiting time: 1h.

Kicked out by the highway workers while waiting on the edge of the booth...

Cars accelerate after péage and it might be difficult for them to cross all the lanes to stop at the side. But it took us only 10 min to get a ride to Grenoble.
